Random/London
I was so determined to try to learn how to make a pattern over summer, but the whole idea of it all really boggled me for some reason. After drawing a page of flamingoes, I decided that I would develop it and make a repeating pattern.
I re-drew some of the shapes from the wax-crayon flamingoes using pro-markers and brush pen on a piece of squared off A4. Using a tutorial I found online http://www.designsponge.com/2008/05/welcome-julia-and-how-to-make-a-repeat-pattern.html I followed the instructions of cutting it and flipping it, and then scanning it into Photoshop and having a tweak..and viola!
I'm really pleased I have been able to make a pattern- finally! I will definitely use this method again in future work.
I visited London and was keen to explore Greenwich and Canary Wharf, areas that I had never been to before. I visited the Royal Observatory museum and the planetarium, as well as the Greenwich meantime strip, where time all over the world is scheduled from, it was so interesting!
I just produced a few quick sketches from the day, as I sometimes find visiting museums and taking in all of the information pretty exhausting.
