Summer Project: Week 7

SOS ILLUSTRATORS BLOCK

Back home in Grantham, there isn't much to be inspired by or interested in, so I was struggling a lot for ideas and motivation despite having visited different places.

I tapped into google 'what can I draw?' and I found this really handy website that illustrator Phil McAndrew has provided with a list of 400 things you can draw. So I started to work my way through it.

'Emotional fish'

'Slugs'

'Different breeds of dogs'

'Sushi'

My favourite topic by far was 'draw every house you've ever lived in'

This for me was pretty sentimental, as I have moved around a lot and lived in seven houses (sadly all in Grantham), I know it sounds cringey but each house is like a metaphor for different milestones in my life, so this was a bit of a personal project for me to engage in.

I posted this on my instagram and received some really positive comments. It has also sparked an interest in drawing buildings; how can they tell a story, how can buildings, or sequences of buildings relate to a theme or portray a message?

Something to think about!
