'Dust' - New work by Drew Millward
Following the visit to LCA paid by Drew Millward, I decided to go and check out his most recent pieces of work inspired by the industrial north and re-imagined histories
The level of preciseness and complex intricate detail in Millward's work never fails to amaze me. I admire his restrictive palettes, only using four or less colours, allowing them to blend via screen printing, creating a wider range.
It is hard not to wonder what goes on inside Millward's head with him producing such complex compositions, although I completely commend his fantastic imagination and talent for image making.
Millward has informed my practice by giving himself restrictions in some aspects of his creative process, but completely flourishing with concepts and imagination. Being more imaginative is something that I definitely need to push within my practice, and not be afraid of producing something completely obscure, which could in fact be successful.
